Families & Children
Children are not just welcome at Crofton Church, they are part of our church family. Noisy, wriggly, curious and full of questions is absolutely fine here.
A Church Where Children Can Be Children
We know that coming to church with children can feel daunting. You might worry that they will be noisy, want to move around, ask questions, need snacks or simply not sit still.
You do not need to worry. We love having children with us. The sound of children in church is the sound of a growing church family.
You are welcome to stay, move around, use the play area, step out if you need to, or simply let your child be themselves.
Family-Friendly Worship
We offer several ways for children and families to be part of church life, from relaxed family services to crafts, toddler groups and special events.
Relaxed Worship for Everyone
Our Family Service is especially relaxed and welcoming for children. There is no expectation for children to sit silently throughout. Movement, questions, chatter and curiosity are all part of the morning.
It is a lovely way to come to church as a family without worrying about whether your children are “doing church properly”.
Small Play Area at the Back
There is a small play area at the back of church for babies, toddlers and younger children. Families are welcome to use this during services.
You can still hear and follow the service while your child has space to play quietly nearby.
Kids for Christ
During some Holy Communion services, children can join in with craft activities at the side of church while the service continues.
This gives children a creative way to explore the theme of the service while staying part of the church family.
Groups for Children & Young People
Alongside Sunday worship, we have groups and activities that help children, young people and families build friendships and explore faith in age-appropriate ways.
For Children & Young People
God Squad gives children and young people a space to explore faith, ask questions, build friendships and grow in confidence.
Activities may include games, discussion, prayer, creativity and learning more about following Jesus.
For Babies, Toddlers & Grown-Ups
Toddlers on Toast is a warm and friendly group for babies, toddlers, parents, grandparents and carers.
Come along for play, songs, stories, chat, refreshments and, of course, toast.
Faith, Crafts, Food & Fun
Messy Church is a relaxed, creative church gathering for the whole family. It includes crafts, activities, Bible stories, worship and food together.
It is a great way to explore faith in a hands-on, informal and family-friendly way.
Special Events for Families
Throughout the year we hold special events for families and the wider village. These are friendly, informal and a great way to come into church even if you do not usually attend services.
Halloween in Church
Face painting, hot dogs, hot chocolate and the chance to ring the church bells.
Seasonal Events
We run family-friendly activities at different times of the year, including Christmas, Easter, harvest, fairs and community celebrations.
Church Bells & Activities
Some events give children the chance to explore the church building, ring the bells, take part in crafts and discover more about church life.
