Coming to church for the first time — or returning after a long time away — can feel daunting. We want you to feel at ease from the moment you arrive.
-
A warm welcome Someone will greet you at the door and help you find a seat. There’s no pressure to do or say anything you’re not comfortable with.
-
Order of service You’ll be given a service sheet so you can follow along easily. Everything is explained as you go.
-
Come as you are There’s no dress code. Smart, casual, whatever you’re comfortable in — you’re welcome just as you are.
-
Tea and coffee afterwards Most services are followed by refreshments — a great chance to meet people and have a chat.
-
Children are very welcome We love having families with us. The All Age Service on the 2nd Sunday is especially family-friendly. Children are welcome at all services.
Common Questions
No booking needed — just turn up. All our regular services are open to everyone. For special events like Messy Church, it can be helpful to let us know you’re coming, but it’s never essential.
Holy Communion, also called the Eucharist or Lord’s Supper, is a central part of Anglican worship where bread and wine are shared. If you’ve been baptised, you’re welcome to receive. If not, or if you’d prefer not to, simply cross your arms over your chest when you come forward and you’ll receive a blessing instead. There’s no obligation either way.
Most Sunday services last around 45–60 minutes. The Wednesday Holy Communion service is usually shorter. The All Age Service on the 2nd Sunday is relaxed and moves at a friendly pace.
We don’t have a church car park, but there is a small free car park on High Street, directly opposite Lloyds Pharmacy — just a short walk from the church. When searching on Google Maps, use “Stocks Lane” to find us most easily.
We do our best to make everyone feel welcome. If you have specific accessibility needs, please get in touch before your visit and we’ll do everything we can to help.
Absolutely. Many people who come to Crofton Church are exploring faith, asking questions, or simply curious. You don’t need to have it all figured out. As Jesus said: “Whoever comes to me I will never drive away.” — John 6:37
